In a heartwarming new partnership, Toys for Hospitalized Children has teamed up with Hatzalah of Mill Basin to bring comfort to children—before they even reach the hospital. Now, every ambulance ride includes a special gift: a soft teddy bear handed to young patients the moment they’re picked up.
“These bears are more than toys; they’re a message to each child that they’re not alone,” said Mr. David Cohen, Executive Director of Hatzalah of Mill Basin. “I’ve already seen it in action—the fear on a child’s face melts into a big smile.”

Hatzalah of Mill Basin operates four fully equipped ambulances, 50 dedicated members, and responds to hundreds of emergency calls each month. This new initiative will bring warmth and comfort to the fast-paced urgency of emergency care.
The teddy bears, manufactured by Mr. Seth Green, a proud Mill Basin resident, are being donated through the generosity of Eli Cohen of Eli Cohen Insurance Agency. "We want these kids to feel safe and cared for and a hug from our teddy bear is the best way to say, We're here for you," said Cohen.
The program is being overseen Rabbi JJ Hecht, President of Toys for Hospitalized Children, who shared, “Sometimes, all it takes is one small gesture to change a child’s entire experience. Happy kids heal faster!”
Thanks to this partnership, the healing will begin before the hospital doors even open.
