The Bibas Project Launches: Remembering Ariel Bibas on His 6th Birthday

On what would have been Ariel Bibas’ 6th birthday, his family and community chose to honor his memory not with silence, but with impact. The Bibas Project of launched with a heartwarming toy distribution event at Assuta Ashdod Hospital—the very hospital where the Bibas children were born. The pediatric wing was filled with laughter and light as we delivered colorful toys room to room, lighting up the eyes of children spending their days in hospital beds.

In attendance were Board Member Michelle Domb and Dana Sitton, sister of Shiri Bibas A”H, and extended members of the Bibas family. The Bibas Project was launched in partnership with the Bibas family as a living tribute to the memory of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir. Through this project, toys, joy, and healing are brought to children in hospitals across Israel. Each visit is thoughtfully timed to coincide with meaningful dates for the family—such as birthdays and anniversaries—making every moment even more heartfelt.

At every hospital, each toy includes a special sticker featuring a photo of the children’s beloved purple elephant. Alongside the toys, we deliver unique get-well notes designed to uplift the spirits of hospitalized kids. These cards feature playful puns and original artwork lovingly created by Yossi Silberman, Shiri Bibas’s father, and gifted to the Bibas children.

The Playroom at Assuta Ashdod Hospital was built a few years ago by Toys for Simcha. It is stocked with games, toys, books, art supplies, and video games—designed to create a space of joy, imagination, and healing. Hospitals can often feel sterile and overwhelming for children, but this warm and inviting playroom offers relief and a joyful distraction during long or difficult stays.

On what would have been Ariel’s 6th birthday: a day transformed from sorrow into light. Whether it’s through a new toy, a warm space to play, or the embrace of community, we’re committed to giving every child a reason to smile—even in the hardest moments. 💙
